Give me Colors!
Lately I've been looking back at photos of me that people have taken when I'm out and around places, and thinking that I look drab. My face looks fadey. It needs some brightening up! So, the other day, I started researching online to update my look. After all, it's spring, and it's time for spring cleaning and all of that. & Over the next few days, I read a ton of sites, but here and here were the most helpful. The most important thing that I learned was that, luckily, color is in this spring/summer for makeup. Just when I felt the need to brighten up, it's in style! For the past few years, I've been a lipgloss kind of girl, rather than a lipstick one, but bright pink and red lipsticks are in right now, so I decided to try it. I really enjoy the look…for just a few dollars, you can add some zest to your whole personality! It's taken a little getting used to, having a pinky mouth…and my lips feel a bit more dry, and I'm always worrying there's lipstick on my teeth, or that it's wearing off or smudging all over. Overall, it's a nice change, and my zumba teacher even danced over to me in class to compliment me on it! The other thing that brightened up my face is a new blush. I've really loved using Fresh blush the past couple years, but I needed something more pigmented, so I'm now using Stila custom color blush which reacts with your pH to make your own personal color. Love. Lastly, there's the eyes. I've always been big on doing my eyes, because I always feel like they're my best feature (big!). I read that green is in, as well as yellow. I'm not sure yellow would match my skin, so I've gotten the green, and a couple other things, to bring more attention to my eyes, even though really, that's what people notice anyway. Of course, most of the time, you don't want to overdo all 3 of those at once… I also got a nice nude lipgloss for when I'm going to go overboard on the eyes. It was really worth it to spend a few hours researching the spring trends (including hair and clothes too), because my outlook feels very refreshed now. The next photos that come back hopefully won't look like I'm blending into the wall. I always feel that way anyway.. Have you ever felt like that? Let's hope that the spring cleaning of my appearance (new makeup, my recent new hair, & a couple new clothes) will bring about a spring cleaning of my outlook!
